Miyuki Fuji Biography
Miyuki was born in Tokyo and has two bachelor degrees from Tokyo University. Her major studies were Philosophy and Religion.
She is also a master of Kendo, "The way of the sword". Kendo is more than just a sport it is a way of life cultivating mind ,body and spirit. This becomes quite evident when you see her paint. Her stance is that of a swordsman and her brush becomes the sword.
Ms. Fuji has been on safari throughout Africa and traveled extensively through South America, Europe and Asia. Miyuki has also studied Tea ceremony and Ikebana.
Ever since a child Miyuki has had a great love, and respect of Zen and Nature.
In 1985 Miyuki started studies at the Art Students League under the auspices of Robert Beauchamp, and Knox Martin. She studied at the Art Students League for fifteen years winning the esteemed travel scholarship and one person show in Art Students League Gallery.
Miyuki responds to any material,paper, oil painting, found object with an energy, focus and purity not found in other artists.
In Miyuki's work the way of the sword is to create not destroy.
